One of the Boys.

Ever since I can remember, I've been a tomboy. Maybe it was growing up in a small town or something, though some articles implicate genetics (seriously - being a tomboy could be in our DNA). I fully admit to playing with barbies as a kid, I still enjoy make-up and occasionally rock a dress. For the most part, it's all jeans and "dude" stuff.

I think a lot of girls are in agreement with this statement; "I've always had an easier time making guy friends than gal pals." Something about boys being so laid back, and to the point. Now, maybe this was more prominent a decade or two ago but if a boy doesn't want to be your friend, you KNOW. It's OBVIOUS. And when you fight with a boy, it's usually over in a day or two & all is forgiven.

(me being attractive with my long-time BFF Mat.)

Men aren't without fault, but they're just easier to get along with. I know that this is totally up to each individual and his/her personality, but I'm writing this from MY perspective.

Sometime's us girls can be a real handful. I have met and befriended needy dudes too, so my theory ain't perfect here. But think about your group of friends, are there more males or females? Think of a close girl friend and a close boy friend - which relationship takes most effort?

Bingo.

Guy friends are easy to  hang out with, and don't judge you when you rock pajamas and murder a bag of chips in one go. They often come with muscles and beer - and there's no tip-toeing around awkward topics, for example: They'll tell you if those pleather pants make your butt look big. They'll tell you if you stink. They'll tell you "Volume, sometimes you probably should brush your hair." etc.

God bless them. I love my guy friends and wouldn't trade 'em for the world. I love my girl friends too, but we're all tomboys to an extent. I could probably name on one hand the amount of "girly girls" I socialize with & I'd have trouble doing even that. I'm friends with all kinds, I don't discriminate against turbo-femmes, but the ol' saying holds true: Birds of a feather...

So all you GUY friends of us tomboys, listen up! We love it when you tell us the truth, we're happy when you hang around us and help us lift and or build things, we like your no nonsense way of life.

BUT...

...at the end of the day, us tomboys - we're girls.
