SPCA: Good News!

Ok, so I've blogged about two special pups semi-recently... Toby, the little black Shih Tzu who's responsible for my repeat visits to the shelter (he inspired me to volunteer because he reminded me of my family dog growing up) & Scarlett, the baby Shih Tzu cross (who I posted video of a while back). I am SO happy to announce that they've both been adopted! I've only been volunteering for a little over a month now... I think... ??? and a couple dogs and cats have found forever homes in that time. I can't express how happy it makes me when I see and hear that people like you are opening up your homes to these animals who really deserve to be loved.

More and more when I'm out walking dogs, I'm seeing families come out to view the ones up for adoption & come to volunteer. It's awesome for me to know that you're doing your part to brighten an animal's day.

There is an urgent message I'm hoping to pass on via the Lloydminster and District SPCA:

Press Release – January 31, 2012:

“The Lloydminster & District SPCA is in desperate need of experienced dog walkers who are able to walk large strong-minded dogs. The SPCA currently has an overwhelming 29 dogs in the shelter - 8 of which can only be walked by experienced volunteers. These large strong-minded dogs are not getting the exercise they need which is making the adoption matching process extremely difficult. If you would like to help save a life and are capable of handling large dogs please phone the SPCA at 780-875-2809.”

If you have time, please consider volunteering. If you don't have time, but want to help - consider sponsoring an animal or two. You might make Mandy's day (picture incl.). I do what I can, but like the press release states - there are some dogs who need more experienced dog walkers to come exercise with them.

It's EASY: VOLUNTEER @ THE LLOYD SPCA

& If you're thinking about adopting, consider this: MANY of these animals are already trained.
