Older Now, With Lower Standards

I have discovered the secret to physical fitness! Are you ready for this? It's actually a pretty shocking revelation...

Your numbers get better when you get older!

That's right kid, you're already on the path to fitness!

It's true! I turned 29 over the weekend, and my fitness goals got easier to achieve! Not by much, mind you, but still! See, as you age, past your teens and early twenties, expectations get lower. Suddenly, it's ok to have a couple extra pounds on you. "That's not so bad, he's 29! It's not like he's 28 and should be in shape!" So despite the fact that I tanked a week of training celebrating a birthday, I got older, so it all evens out. Right?

Big thanks to everyone who took part in the Guest Workout Series over the past month. It was good to get to work out with different people, and see different fitness levels. It's really motivating to be out there with someone who's rooting for you to lift, pull, push, or run. If you've found that working out just didn't feel right, maybe give it another try with a workout partner. It might be just what you need to get back in the game.

Tuesday was back to the old routine of just Jenna and I, sort of. Jenna hadn't had a chance to workout yet on Tuesday, so she was not only my trainer, but I was working out with her, on her routine. I'll say, it's one thing to have someone tell you to do something, but it's a lot more impressive to watch them proceed to crush said exercise. There's no excuses when your trainer is right there beside you lifting the same weights.

We focused on arms and shoulders, and I'm pretty happy about my progress. When I started, I would always tell people that my arms were really just for show. Despite my large frame, I had zero power in my arms, but now I'm starting to see, and feel, significant progress. I'm doing more reps, lifting heavier weights, and now falling apart like a house of cards at the first sign of fatigue. I'd say it's only a matter of months before I look something like this...

As opposed to my current style.

God I'm attractive...

Want to say congratulatons to Aaron, who is the winner of our Trainer Contest. We had a lot of people send in their reasons for wanting to workout with Jenna and I, but Aaron's was the best, and he's coming in for a session. We'll let you know if we can make him puke! To the rest of our entrants, you guys deserve something too, so Jenna is hooking you all up with a free week pass at Motion Fitness to help jump start your journey.

I am dreading this weekend, what with it being the Ultimate Cheat Meal known as Thanksgiving. I don't think I'll be able to resist going nuts on Sunday. What's the one part of Thanksgiving dinner you couldn't pass up? Drop it in the comments below, or tweet it to me, http://twitter.com/dalby with the hash tag #TGivingMustHave. I'll post the best ones, along with some Thanksgiving survival tips this weekend.
